Hi, I'm Mary. I started this service. Let me tell you a little bit about my experience. Well, it all started in 1998. I was working in the dental field and hated it! It led me searching for something new. It took me to my first animal related job at a very large boarding facility in Rockland County, NY. This kennel boarded over 200 dogs and 45+ cats. It was huge! I started out as a kennel tech, you know cleaning cages, feeding and playing with the pets when the owners paid extra for it. A few months later, I was promoted to Animal Care Manager. I was then responsible for overlooking the staff as well as medicating and making sure each and every pet was eating and elminating well. A few months after that, I was promoted to Assistant Manager. I was then in charge and cross trained in all departments which consisted of boarding, doggie daycare and grooming. After 2 1/2 years, I still went searching for more. I met a dog trainer at the kennel who worked for a non for profit foundation in Suffolk County, NY. She put me in contact with the founder and before you know it, I was packing my bags. In the last week of 2000, I started working for the foundation. I was placed at the Town of Southampton Animal Shelter where I was responsibile for walking all the dogs and putting them in playgroups as well. Everything I did at the shelter was to help them become more adoptable. I even assisted with adoptions by speaking to the people about them since I knew more about the dogs then the actual staff of the shelter. They were too busy cleaning and feeding, the didn't have the time to stop and really get to know the dogs.
The Staff
The staff of Mary's Petsitting & Dogwalking Service consists of myself (Mary) and 5 other family members. We are insured and bonded so you can feel secure about leaving your pets and home in our care. We understand the importance of keeping your pet on it's usual schedule. All staff members are supervised by myself either in person or by phone. Come join our family!
